Trouble shooting checklist for premature chipping

- It is important that all the proper steps were taken to see optimal wear with Dazzle Dry.
- Was the prep done correctly?
- Was cuticle tissue properly removed off the nail plate during grooming?
- Was a 240 or higher grit buffer used to remove the shine gently from the nail plate and smooth out cuticle work?
- Using Cuticle Oil after oil in the manicure keeps the nail well moisturized and supple, this can prevent premature chipping, but the oil MUST be properly removed.
- If oils and lotion are used during the manicure, we recommend using soap and water to remove from the nail plate and thoroughly drying. Put soap on a brush, get wet and scrub each nail, then rinse in bowl.
- Using one lint free wipe per hand, wet well with the Nail Prep to thoroughly clean the nail plate being sure to pull down the lateral folds so that remaining traces of oil and lotion are removed.
- Base Coat must be warmed to a completely clear state (no traces of a milky look and residue on bottom of bottle).
- Two coats of Base Coat applied to the nails being sure to cap the free edge and allowing each layer to dry matte.
- Also check the viscosity of the color. Restoring with the Revive (thinner) is essential to maintain the correct viscosity. 6-8 drops at a time, add more if it is still too thick.
- The first coat of Lacquer applied not too think not too thin.
- Second Coat of Lacquer should be applied a bit heavier.
- Always capping free edge. Waiting until each coat is dried matte.
- Applying a generous coat of Topcoat over and again capping the free edge.
- Also, what was the condition of the guests nails prior to manicure service?
- Did they appear to have a layering / peeling look or perhaps thin and weak look?
- When you refilled the Base Coat bottles, did you place large refill in hot water until clear, then shake prior to refilling?
- Your Lacquer and/or Topcoat may be contaminated with WET Base Coat. When you don’t let each layer dry matte, you can drag the wet rubber polymers in the Base Coat and transfer it into the bottle of Lacquer or Topcoat. This is often the biggest contributor of premature chipping.
- Another suggestion that has also worked with clients is applying a second coat of Topcoat right after the first one is applied. Then wait the 5 min dry time. Sometimes just having that " extra" coat helps.
Please Note : After Top Coat, do not use drying drops, quick dry sprays, fans, no-blowing on the nails and now flapping hands to accelerate dry time
